I love food, and I know lots of folks with allergies. All the gluten-free books are full of nasty recipes, and weird ingredients— xanthan and guar gum, ninety strange flours and so on. Ethnic foods are a better bet, things like Mexican and Indian and Middle Eastern food.
Today’s book, therefore, is The Food and Cooking of the Middle East. I found it at Barnes & Noble for ten dollars, very reasonable for a hard-cover cookbook.
It’s filled with delightful recipes, many of which are gluten-free or easily converted, and none of the ingredients are terribly hard to find these days. The instructions are clear, and there are lots of pictures of the different steps and the finished product. All in all, a fine book.
